SLIDE OF THE WEEK

Chicago Freedomland Fire

The legendary Chicago Fire of 1871 was one of the star attractions at Freedomland USA. The short-lived early American history theme park was located just thirty minutes from the heart of New York City in the Bronx. It opened in 1960 and closed in 1964.

Popeye Macy's Parade ballon

A giant skyward helium-filled Popeye balloon tethered with many strings and a small army of earthbound wranglers. Just part of an annual tradition of parading balloon sculptures down Broadway that began in 1927.

Kodachrome slide photography was brand knew at the time but I knew that eventually I’d come across some slides that somebody took there - and last week it finally happened!!! This is one of the slides.
