Astroweenie

Here’s my very first Astro Weenie Christmas Tree. I used orange cauliflower to brighten it up. I’m in culinary school now and plan to do something a little more adventurous this year. I’ll be sure to share. Happy Holidays, Charles. You rock!

Astro-weenie Christmas Tree

I was THRILLED when I found your Astro Weenie Tree idea since I was to attend a Christmas Eve party and was asked to bring something for the pot luck. Little did I know it would take so much time and money?… I didn’t care, it was going to be FABULOUS! and it was…

I added battery operated lights to the foil cone, and added a pole wooden dowel up the middle because mere peanut butter was NOT going to hold this 6 pound masterpiece! I also had to make a foam core star since star fruit was “out of season” according to my grocer.

The tree was a huge success at the party, though hardly anyone wanted to scar it’s beauty by actually eating it! I brought her home and relocated all of the uneaten food to plastic bags. When I got up Christmas morning I found that my dog was not afraid to eat it at all!

Keep it up Charles! I’m toasting some cereal tonight! Keith

Cream Puffastro WeenieOur buddy Eric didn’t want cake for his birthday (cake+beer=not so great), so we bought him a jumbo box of cream puffs instead. My husband said, “We could use frosting to make them into a mountain.” But if Conan taught me anything, it’s “Why frost when you can Astro Weenie?”

I ruthlessly stabbed our foam conifer with toothpicks and cemented it to a platter with icing. We had some leftover paper & foil cupcake wraps in the drawer and added those to each toothpick, spreading them out into glorious crimped suns. Instant Americana! Added candied lime rings, cream puffs and a drizzling of strawberry and chocolate sauce. The candles singed a few cream puffs, but the risk of fire made for a more exciting presentation. Happy Birthday, Eric!
