SNACKSGIVING GOBBLER PLATTER
A Fun, Fattening Thanksgiving Appetizer Centerpiece
This big ol’ turkey-shaped cheese, cracker and salami platter is sure to sensationalize your big birdy dinner party !!! …
At last, my excuse to go on a cracker shopping spree at the supermarket. And how much do we seriously all love crackers … I KNOWWW !!! All the crackers of our lives have a story. I could find origin dates on all of them except Sociables. So for now we’ll have to wonder about those … but I can tell you when the rest of these salty, fatty flavor bombs first came out of the oven: Saltines in 1876, Triscuits in 1902, Cheez-Its in 1920, Ritz in 1934, Wheat Thins in 1947, and Chicken in a Biskit in 1964. This is delicious info! OK, now onto more important things …
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE A SNACKSGIVING GOBBLER PLATTER
Crackers – your choice, the more the merrier …
Cheese – I used a double wide block of cheddar cheese. Velveeta for the body!
Big stick of hard Gallo Salami for the neck/head, legs and feathers
Green olive w pimento pupil for the eye
Red bell pepper for the gobbler
24-inch flat platter
Start on the outside of the platter and layer in from there. To be safe, you can “glue” that first outside layer of Ritz Crackers down with spray cheese.
For the body, form the Velveeta into a half ball. Feather the crackers on it and stuff the feet into it. Place the eye and the gobbler and you’ve done it! Remember there are NO rules other than to have fun !!!
