Charles Phoenix’s Retro Disneyland Slide Show

A live comedy performance celebrating the Magic Kingdom in the 50s & 60s, the granddaddy of all theme parks when it was new!
*One Show Only* on the 55th Anniversary of Disneyland! Saturday Morning, July 17, 2010
10 a.m.
Crowne Plaza Hotel
Anaheim, CA

With his keen eye for detail and infectious enthusiasm, Charles shows and tells the back story of many long-gone attractions including the Phantom Boats, Flying Saucers, Indian Village, Carousel of Progress, and other favorites. Also experience the early days of Main Street USA, Adventureland, Fantasyland and Frontierland.

Enjoy seeing vintage images of the original Tomorrowland when it was promoted as ‘The World of 1987.’ Also check out the all-new Tomorrowland of 1967. Charles also shares the flaming back story of the monorail and takes you inside the ultra space-age House of the Future. Audiences will get to tour Freedomland USA, the ill-fated Disneyland wannabe theme park that opened in the New York City in 1960, and much, much more!

Your imagination will be inspired and your spirit will soar!

Anaheim Crowne Plaza Resort is located at: 12021 Harbor Boulevard Garden Grove, CA 92840-4001

Hi Charles — I hope you reschedule soon — PLEEEZ. So bummed I couldn’t go on July 17 since I had to work. I went to your Xmas Extravaganza at the Egyptian and it was beyond hysterical. I loved how every time you’d click to a new slide and we would be SCREAMING, laughing — you’d say, “I KNOOOOW!”

My first visit to Disneyland was in the early 60s with all those ticket coupon books and I also went to my high school Grad Night there in the early 70s. I really miss the Carousel of Progress.

    You are a Genius! :)

Please have repeat performances of this! My sister in law was employed in 1961 at the Frontierland Indian village as an “indian bravelet.” I’d love to bring her to this show if you repeat it.I first visited Disneyland two months after it opened. I even remember the shrouding around the orange groves that were cleared to build it back in 1954!

I don’t know how I missed this one, but I didn’t see it until it was sold out… Please, please, let there be enough interest to schedule a second show! =)

this would make a great book. i’ve always been fascinated with the 50′s and 60′s disneyland…….every since my grandma visited it and returned with wonderful pictures and presents. i’ve visited it as an adult, but it’s definitely not the same one i saw on tv all those years ago. i wish i was closer to attend the show
