Cherpumple

Thankful Cherpumple!

Traditional cherpumple with frozen pies

Figured the Cherpumple was the perfect Thanksgiving dessert, and HAD to try it. Was way easier than I anticipated, used frozen pies and boxed mix, but make a homemade crusting cream cheese frosting with Meyer lemon zest. It turned out great, but my next one will be a berry cherpumple- strawberry, blueberry and raspberry with white cakes flavored with lime, lemon and orange zest. I’ll send pictures when I do that one!

Tastykake Cherpumple

My local grocery store was out of normal pies, so I had to purchase several individual Tastykake pies to fill the Cherpumple. The creation was delicious and pleased our crowd for our second annual Cherpumple party!

Cher-Pea-Ple, Dollar Store Version

“I got lucky, and found Banquet individual pies in the freezer section of the 99 Cent Only Store. I picked up Apple, Peach, and one damaged Cherry/Mixed Berry. This changed my ‘Cherpumple’ into a ‘Cher-Pea-Ple,’ but I forged ahead.”

Sunday Brunch Cherpumple

Working in the Grand Geneva Resort pastry kitchen, I had some time to make a Cherpumple and serve it at Sunday Brunch. My Cherpumple weighed 21 lbs 10 oz and was seen by over 200 guests that Sunday. I was very pleased that it stayed standing until the final 1/8 was cut 4 hours after the first slice was taken. Will be doing this again.

Blupumple was a success!

We went with blueberry pie in a chocolate cake, apple pie in a spice cake and pumpkin pie in a yellow cake. I made sure to bake pies the first day, cakes the next and frost the third so that each piece had time to dry out before final assembly. It stood up well, and cut beautifully. However, after slicing half of it, 2/3 of it ended up toppling over. But before that, it was lovely! Cheers to Charles Phoenix on this one!

Our first Cherpumple

My son saw the Cherpumple on Food Network and just had to have one for his birthday. This is our Cherpumple. We did have a few issues with it wanting to collapse so next time we will definitely freeze the layers individually before layering to make it more structurally sound.
