No one was thrilled with the Cherpumple idea for our New Year’s get together so I decided to make a pie inside of a cupcake. I made mini apple pies with a homemade apple mixture and store bought pie crust. I baked those in the mini tins, then I made a french vanilla box cake (with vanilla pudding and sour cream), then poured it over the pies in regular sized cupcake tin (inside cupcake papers). I baked them and then made a cream cheese frosting to decorate on top. They are interesting. I am surprised they turned out.

I decided I would make a Cherpumple for my boyfriend and his friend for our annual birthday LAN (Local-Area network) party. They were not a fan of pumpkin pie, so it was replaced with a peach pie. The first one to bake was the apple – it did want out of the pan at all. Ended up being a pile of crumbs. (At this point I gave up and handed it over to the birthday boy to finish.) The second layer, peach, did a little bit better but was still not perfect. The last one, cherry, we put in a bigger cake pan and it came out the best (still not great). So we put it all together (as much as we could). The frosting part was hard! The cake just crumbed up when you tried to ice it. So I nuked the frosting and drizzled it on. Added some green sprinkles and some candles – and it was “done”. It was still eaten and gradually shifted downwards and died…

A very sweet young lady, Laura Julien, was thrilled to bits to discover your Cherpumple, and dreamt of one day indulging in a slice of her own. So when her birthday came around, we knew what we had to do.
Rolling up our sleeves and getting our hands dirty, we concocted our own version of the Cherpumple, the “Strawbluecher!” Three thoughtfully flavor-coordinated layers: strawberry pie in a vanilla cake, blueberry pie in a lemon cake, and cherry pie in a chocolate cake. And, the crown jewel to top it all off, a small sugar pie, the recipe being the pride and joy of every traditional French Canadian homestead. And thus Laura’s dream was fulfilled. Thanks, Phoenix!

Hi Charles!- Finally got around to sending the photo of Cherpumple #2 from Thanksgiving. I modified the Cocoa Stencil and kept with the same Rose Levy Birenbaum Cake Bible French Butter Cream. Again, Charles, thank you for an awesome, awesome creation.

My full story is written up here! It’s an epic tale with great video!

Loved the Idea. But I don’t like cherry pie so I swapped it for a pecan pie, it came out great. It was the perfect dessert at our ugly sweater party this year. Thanks for the inspiration.
