My first attempt at edible architecture!
I constructed this AWCT (with Olive Orbit) to celebrate the end of four years of interior design school. Building materials included: Lil Smokies, salami slices, tofu cubes, swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, broccoli, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, green olives and black olives – crowned with a raw beet. I served it with a double-dip selection of French onion dip and dill dip.
It was a savory success!

I saw your segment on Conan and was inspired to make a special treat for my Superbowl party. A Christmas tree didn’t make much sense, but when I saw the Lombardi trophy, I knew the shape would work. I attached a foam football to the top of a styrofoam cone, wrapped it in foil and went crazy with toothpicks. I chose to keep it vegetarian-friendly. And my anal-retentive nature caused me to keep each item in one section rather than the random placement. I found it best to omit the candles as things can get pretty rowdy at Superbowl parties. A good time was had by all. Thanks for the inspiration!

Saw you on Conan and thought we would try this for our Christmas day nibbles. My sister and I love doing fun stuff. I wish it turned out a little more retro looking, but I think that we did bring some elegance to the “Astro Weenie Tree”.
Thanks for the idea and for New Year’s I am making the Inchezonya.
Oh, I think I am going to modify the Cherpumple and make mini pies inside cupcakes. Not too retro, but fun!

Hi Charles- This was a huge hit- I wrapped the foam cores in foil and then wrapped again in colored translucent wrapping sheets. My husband used drywall screws to assemble everything. Super sturdy and a huge hit at the Xmas party! Thank you Charles!

Onions, tomatoes, olives, carrots, baby corn, cheese, weinies, celery, broccoli, pickles, chocolates, cherries, crab apples, peas in pods, donut holes, pineapple.
Served with radishes & Cuties and Hummas & Veggie Dip on the side.
It was a dark and stormy night.. Just kidding. It was Christmas morning of 2010, and I was preparing the first AWCT. Opening the crisper, I realized all of my veggies were FROZEN. OH NO!! So I had to run to a market that was open on Christmas morning, and quickly buy veggies. Luckily, many items were canned and jarred. =)
My mother was admitting to expect something on the cheezie side, but when I walked through the door, I was humbled with applause!!!
Shortly after my arrival, we placed a ginger-bread cookie star on top!
My tree was a HIT!

Getting ready for tonight Christmas bash. Wouldn’t be a party without Charles Phoenix’s sensation!
