Astro Weenie Christmas Tree

Orange Cauliflower Weenie Tree

Here’s my very first Astro Weenie Christmas Tree. I used orange cauliflower to brighten it up. I’m in culinary school now and plan to do something a little more adventurous this year. I’ll be sure to share. Happy Holidays, Charles. You rock!

Keith Kaminski’s Astro Weenie Tree

I was THRILLED when I found your Astro Weenie Tree idea since I was to attend a Christmas Eve party and was asked to bring something for the pot luck. Little did I know it would take so much time and money?…I didn’t care, it was going to be FABULOUS! and it was…

I added battery operated lights to the foil cone, and added a pole wooden dowel up the middle because mere peanut butter was NOT going to hold this 6 pound masterpiece! I also had to make a foam core star since star fruit was “out of season” according to my grocer.

The tree was a huge success at the party, though hardly anyone wanted to scar it’s beauty by actually eating it! I brought her home and relocated all of the uneaten food to plastic bags. When I got up Christmas morning I found that my dog was not afraid to eat it at all!

Keep it up Charles! I’m toasting some cereal tonight! Keith

Drizzled Cream Puff Birthday Astro Weenie

Our buddy Eric didn’t want cake for his birthday (cake+beer=not so great), so we bought him a jumbo box of cream puffs instead. My husband said, ‘we could use frosting to make them into a mountain’. But if Conan taught me anything, it’s ‘Why frost when you can Astro Weenie’?

I ruthlessly stabbed our foam conifer with toothpicks and cemented it to a platter with icing. We had some leftover paper & foil cupcake wraps in the drawer and added those to each toothpick, spreading them out into glorious crimped suns. Instant Americana! Added candied lime rings, cream puffs and a drizzling of strawberry and chocolate sauce. The candles singed a few cream puffs, but the risk of fire made for a more exciting presentation. Happy Birthday, Eric!

AWCT with Olive Orbit

My first attempt at edible architecture!

I constructed this AWCT (with Olive Orbit) to celebrate the end of four years of interior design school. Building materials included: Lil Smokies, salami slices, tofu cubes, swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, broccoli, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, green olives and black olives – crowned with a raw beet. I served it with a double-dip selection of French onion dip and dill dip.

It was a savory success!

Astro Weenie Lombardi Trophy

I saw your segment on Conan and was inspired to make a special treat for my Superbowl party. A Christmas tree didn’t make much sense, but when I saw the Lombardi trophy, I knew the shape would work. I attached a foam football to the top of a styrofoam cone, wrapped it in foil and went crazy with toothpicks. I chose to keep it vegetarian-friendly. And my anal-retentive nature caused me to keep each item in one section rather than the random placement. I found it best to omit the candles as things can get pretty rowdy at Superbowl parties. A good time was had by all. Thanks for the inspiration!

Astro Weenie Elegance

Saw you on Conan and thought we would try this for our Christmas day nibbles. My sister and I love doing fun stuff. I wish it turned out a little more retro looking, but I think that we did bring some elegance to the “Astro Weenie Tree”.

Thanks for the idea and for New Year’s I am making the Inchezonya.

Oh, I think I am going to modify the Cherpumple and make mini pies inside cupcakes. Not too retro, but fun!
