4th of July Astro Candy Tree

After admiring the Astro Weenie Trees on your site for sometime, I thought it would be fun to create a candy themed one in patriotic colors! We had friends over for a neighborhood parade and then served a fun buffet afterwards. The Candy Tree was a big hit! I used blue wrapped Almond Joys, white marshmallows and red Swedish Fish. Can’t wait to make another themed tree for the next holiday!

Astro Weenie TREE-O

We went to a party, and Jen created 3 Astro Weenie trees: shrimp/meatball, cheese/grape, and various veggies.

I called the experience “vertical dining”!

New Year’s a Blast with Astro Weenie!

When news of having Cherpumple for New Year’s got out, requests for the Astro Weenie came pouring in. But wait, Christmas is past! Never fear, there’s sparklers and other Americana. Besides, most people leave their tree up for at least a week. Should we have made the Astro Weenie the week before and brought a leftovers tree?

Anyway, this tree, seen here just lifting off, has lots of weenies, cheeses, olives, onions, cauliflower, broccoli, honey-glazed carrots , gherkins, cherry tomatoes, pineapple and gold-frilled party toothpicks, with sparklers and Jesus on top! NASA has nothing on us.

Astro Weenie New Years Needle

We had the pleasure of meeting Charles and attending his holiday slide show in the Seattle area recently. We had plans to go to a new years eve party hosted by friends in Tacoma. Since we live in Seattle and enjoy watching the fireworks at the needle we decided to recreate the needle and take it with us. We decorated the needle with various savory bites applied with frilly, sparkly toothpicks for the fireworks. The Christmas tree on top says “2010″. The Astro Weenie New Years Needle was a big hit. Happy New Year & New Decade!

Astro Veggie Tree

My significant other, Drew and I don’t eat meat, so when our friend AlexSandra asked us to bring an Astro Weenie Tree to her New Year’s Eve party I knew we’d be making a few changes to it. We substituted veggie meat balls for the weenies, added a few extra veggies, put the whole thing on a lazy Susan surrounded by four different kinds of dips, and topped it with an atomic star burst tomato. It was the hit of the party with non-meat and meat eaters alike. In the future, I plan on doing some more experimenting on different types of Astro Trees.

Holiday Forest Extravaganza!

We had so much fun making an Astro-Weenie-Christmas-Tree-inspired forest of food for our New Year’s Eve celebration! Of course we did a weenie tree, with cheese curds to boot, and a fruit tree, but we also made small trees featuring the kids’ favorite foods. So, we had a perogie tree, a chicken wing tree, a marshmallow and maraschino cherry tree, and a sugar coated fruit tree. They were a hoot I tell you!

I don’t know if we’ll ever do it again, for fear of not living up to the magic of the first time around. We’ll just have to come up with other fun food. Lead the way, Charles! We’re following!

Christmas Eve Astro Weenie Tree

After seeing pictures of other Astro Trees, we decided to add baby corn to ours. We felt it gave our tree unique and somewhat dangerous presentation. Looking forward to seeing you in Portland!

Astro-Omni-Veggie-Vegan Tree

I made my own version of the Astro Weenie tree for xmas this year. It occurred to me that it might fit on a Lazy Susan, and it did, perfectly in the center!

I made the entire center Veggie/Vegan. Then in the Susan dishes I put the little smokies, mozzarella balls, ranch dip, and for the vegan dip I included hummus.

Omnivores, Vegetarians and Vegans were delighted and satisfied!

The Pumpkin-Astro-Weenie-Tree

My friends Lucky & Debbie were having a pre-Halloween pumpkin carving party. Using a small pumpkin as the base, I created an astro tree with vegetables, olives, weenies, meats, cheeses, then mini cupcakes and chocolate candies at the bottom. An entire meal within one astro pumpkin weenie tree!
