I hope you like yellow! Swedish monkeys tell us what year is ending and what year is beginning. Our smiling bartender pours a cocktail. There is a small open container of cigarettes in front of him and a pack of L&M’s where the Formica counter meets the wall.

Who is the creative design genius that was able to get their half-flocked Christmas tree to blend into the wallpaper? That is not an easy effect to achieve! This Slide was marked “Janet’s first look at Santa’s Gifts.” The life-like, wide-blue eyed plastic toddler in full make up, formally dressed, rubber-faced, stuffed plushie man-dog and […]

A pink flocked Christmas tree in the picture window, rooftop lighting, double wreathes on the door and illuminated candy canes easily gets the residents of this enchanted house an A++ for their holiday decorating skills. But the fact they got Santa and Mrs. Claus to take time out of their oh-so busy schedules to come […]

A mid-size, mid-century modern painting stands out on a colorless wall while a white flocked tree is nearly lost against it. Closed-eye grandma sports a colorful corsage on a tri-toned confetti-print dress. Smiling grandpa ties his neck with a tartan plaid and suspends his pants high above his waist. When I was growing up the tradition in my family is that we always got our Christmas tree on my birthday – December 20th, and I got to pick it out. When I was in first grade my parents cut loose and actually let me pick out a flocked tree. Getting a flocked tree is Southern California’s version of having a white Christmas.

Cheers to the shape of that woman’s brassiere, her titty-pink top and her shocking pink hostess pants.
Cheers to the Hugh Hefner wannabee.
Cheers to the two ladies toasting on the couch - especially the most glamorous woman in the history of my slide collection. She wears a timeless-classic ostrich feather hat and smokes a cigarette […]

Have you ever spent Christmas in Christmas? Christmas, Michigan. How about Easter in Easter, TX? Have you ever been to Santa Claus? Santa Claus, Indiana or Santa Claus, Georgia? Were you ever served Christmas dinner at this week’s slide: Christmas Tree Inn, Santa Claus, Arizona, 1951.
A bullet-nosed Studebaker with suicide doors is parked up front. […]
