Fried Cereal

Fried Cereal

Fried cereal is a colorful mix of our fave classic breakfast cereals tossed and toasted in melted salted butter! YUM!

Kids, adults and senior citizens love fried cereal. Eat it like popcorn!

WHAT’S YOUR MIX?
Personalize your fried cereal by mixing together five or more of your favorite cereals. Name the mix after yourself. For example, if your name is Tiffany, call it “Tiffany Mix,” Melvin, it’s “Melvin Mix!”

The “Charles Phoenix Mix” is Apple Jacks, Lucky Charms, Cap’n Crunch, Honeycombs, Trix, Cocoa Puffs and Fruit Loops.

BASIC RECIPE – makes 6 one-cup servings.

  • ½ stick of salted butter
  • 6 cups dry cereal – each cup a different cereal

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Melt butter skillet (stove top or electric) on LOW heat.
2. When butter melts add cereal mixture.
3. Toss continuously for 3 or 4 minutes(-ish) until the room begins to smell of sweet buttery toasted cereal.
4. Remove from heat before cereal begins to brown. Don’t stop stirring or it will burn!
5. Serve warm or room temp

Helpful Hints!
#1: Make as much fried cereal at one time as your skillet can hold.
#2: A colorized cereal like Trix or Fruit Loops is recommended in each “mix” for color!
#3: For large party size bowls, fry each of your cereals separately and mix after frying.
#4: Fry your cereal in bacon fat if you don’t like salted butter.
#5: Eat leftovers for breakfast in a bowl with whole milk!
