I wish I lived in CA for events like this! I didn't learn about Heath Ceramics until the late 90s and have never had the $$. Love them and this CP event...whoa, a grilled cheese patio party! We purchased 12 dinner plates @ $5 each, a huge investment then. We eventually added 12 lunch plates, 12 dessert plates, 4 cereal bowls. Later we added a casserole. Just recently we purchased mugs (each costing the equivalent of 4 of our original dinner plates). We still love the clean basic look of the dinnerware and know it will be in the family forever. She makes the greatest HUNKY SOUL FOOD in it! For the un-initiated or "possibly-offended"... "HUNKY SOUL FOOD" is a rich, pasty, carb & dairy loaded meal. It consists of chopped boiled potatoes, wide-bodied egg noodles, cottage cheese, and probably a couple of Mom's "Secret HUNGARIAN ingredients". I remember the old HEATH CANDYBARS too! To this day I can't eat one of the really deliciously crunchy, toffee bars. Why? In 1960 the top-hatted Ladmo of the "Wallace & Ladmo Show" in Phoenix, Arizona... joked about "how awful" thier sponsor's candybar was! Lad was the only one that could comfort me just weeks later after my 5 year-old playmate died behind me in the collapsed ditch we were running through in the schoolyard of Justine Spitalny Elementary School. Mom was given one of these Heath bowls as a wedding present decades ago.
