		<description>Wonderful photo and commentary!  I grew up in the 1960&#039;s in North Miami Beach and my grandmother from Brooklyn used to &quot;winter&quot; every year in South Beach, before it was yuppified!  If I had only saved all the trinkets she had given me through the years...the satin &quot;Miami Beach&quot; pillow in purple with hand-painted scenes of Parrot Jungle, Seaquarium, etc. emblazoned on the front, and the straw tote bags with raffia pink flamingoes hand-stitched on the front.  The shell concoctions were the best; little dolls made from shells were my personal fave.  The architecture (Miami Beach Modern) alone is amazing...This article from the NY Times really sums it all up perfectly....
