The seven dogs as follows:
The Mutt: mustard,relish,onions.

The Chihuahua: chili,onions,parmesan cheese.
The Boston Bull: baked beans, barbeque sauce.
The Hound:barbeque sauce
The Beagle:melted cheddar cheese.

This was the line-up at the Palisades Hot Dog Show. My parents ran it from 1969 till they sold it to a bank that razed it to the ground.

Growing up in Chino during the 1950's abd 60's, we knew the Ontario Hot Dog Show well. If you happen to own a DVD of the original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" from the 1950's, there are a couple of scenes where cars are driving past one of the other Hot Dog Show locations.

I worked at the Hot Dog Show in 1961 - 62. An Italian guy named Al owned it. Next door was Taco Lita. We would trade our 7 for a dollar hamburgers for their Lita Burgers. I had a ball working there. I was 17 and lots of energy. When LAX would fog in the speedy lunch truck would come by and get 100 burgers and go to the Ontario airport. When I worked there the stripes were gone and it was red and white. I used to spiral the hot dogs by the 100s. Box after box. As a matter of fact I just ate a hot dog that I spiraled and cooked in a toaster oven. That’s when I found this site looking for the old place I worked at. We had 7 different kinds of hot dogs and sold charbroiled hamburgers with thousand island and a pickle on a steamed bun. Let me see if I can remember the 7 hot dogs.
mustard dog
kraut dog
Boston baked bean dog
Chili dog
Can’t remember the name (bun - dog - mustard - cheddar cheese - toasted) The one I just ate.
If anyone can remember the last 2 please let me know. It’s been a long time.
As soon as I finish I'll probably think of them.

I grew up in the Palisades but unfortunately never ate at the Hot Dog Show, even though I lived three blocks away. My pre-movie meal was always at the Hacienda Galvan, right around the corner. I collect matchbooks now (but sadly not then) If anyone reading this has a matchbook from either place I would love to hear from you. My email address is thenewtomhofer@gmail.com. Thank you!

Just found out about your book "Cruising the Pomona Valley" What a thrill to remember Betsy Ross, Mc Donalds and then to go to your name and find "The Hot dog Show". They had the best hot dogs EVER!!! Stopped every other day to buy these wonderful "dogs". None like it since. I had moved away after high school and had no idea it had burned down. So very sad. Will have to go to the one in Tuluca Lake. Thank you so much for the trip down memory lane.

The Palisades Hot dog Show was the 1st place I ever ate a hamburger. I thought it was the greatest thing I'd ever tasted (chargrilled as I remember) We would throw fries at the toy train that circled the restaurant up near the ceiling to try and derail it. The Palisades was so great to grow up in back in the sixties and seventies before all the millionaires moved in and took over. On a side note, I just saw The Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) tonight and The Burbank Hot dog Show was shown in one scene. Cool!

I had do do a double take. Just now (okay a minute ago) I opened a "Surf" and saw the Hot Dog Show in the Palisades and remeber the .50 cent shows at the Bay Theater too. I'll bet .50 cents that if there is a theater near the "Show" in Ontario it no longer will be less than the dollar!

I also (fondly) recall the Palisades Hot Dog Show (and worked there as a teen in the mid-1970s). It closed in about 1979, and while I knew of the Toluca Lake location, I was very surprised to learn there was one in Ontario. They (all three "shows) are spitting-images architecturally. Thanks for the memory picture. Long live the "Beagle!"
